What makes you feel alive?

Today is the day that the world honors the life and legacy of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. It is a day that has me reflecting on my very own life path and all that God has created me to do and to be in this world. On today’s Morning Inspiration Show: “Living Legacy” I shared my belief that each of us are currently unfolding our very own legacies right now. Looking back at those souls who’ve left indelible imprints on the lives of others, the world changers, can serve as inspiration for all of us living on purpose now.
I then got to prancing through the archives of my podcasts for the Living In Spiritual Perspective Show. Two shows in particular stood out to me so I listened to them again this morning: Miracle Makers Spotlight on Ruby Veridiano and Love, Race & Liberation with JLove Calderon. Both shows highlight the current efforts of modern day miracle makers each confronting global issues and changing this world in their very own unique ways.
There is a moment in Ruby’s interview that gave me pause. She said, “What makes you feel alive?” as a question for souls to consider when seeking clarity around their life path. When I conducted the interview, I remember feeling really good and happy while highlighting the wonderful life path of Ruby. Today listening to it again, her question struck a chord within me. What makes ME feel alive? I feel alive when I write. I feel alive when I am on the radio each morning. I feel alive when I stand in front of a room of nearly 200 women to facilitate a healing dialogue around mother and daughter relationships, which I did on Saturday and I was able to share an absolutely incredible experience with my mother. I feel alive when I participate in the healing process and evolution of humanity, be it via psychotherapy, speaking, writing, media or producing shows and events.
In this moment I’m mindful of how my life impacts others. I realize that the potential for the greatest impact means moving into my next level via media, public speaking and writing. That means a shift, first within and then without. I made a decision. A bold one. One that is not without risks… One that BE~LOVED Ruby alluded to making on her path… One that I know BE~LOVED JLove has made on hers. By now I think that everyone knows that I have a great memory. I remember clearly a conversation I had with JLove at the completion of her workshop series exactly two years ago. She told me that I have to choose what I want and what I am willing to do to fulfill my life’s purpose.
In JLove’s interview she posed a question for us all to consider as well, “What’s holding me back from fully committing and connecting with people on this issue of liberation?” Her interview highlights what is possible for us as a people when we engage in honestly and thoroughly coming up over racism and privilege in all forms. The message is ultimately about true liberation, from racism and all that binds us as a people. Can you imagine what we can accomplish as a people when we are no longer distracted by or engaged in any form of racism? JLove proposes that it is then, that we’ll be able to truly live up to fullest potential individually and collectively.
Rolling with powerhouses like Ruby and JLove inspires me and give me courage to make the bold decisions that will allow me to fulfill my life’s purpose as best as I possibly can. I’m just feeling grateful this morning. I am grateful for all of the wonderful souls who are consciously living on purpose, stepping out again and again in faith, making indelible imprints on the lives of others and in this world. I’m honored to know world changers… modern day miracle makers. I’m going to hold some of the decisions that I made today close to the vest and simply be about it. You will all have the opportunity to experience the fruits of those decisions in due time. Meanwhile, I encourage you to check out these shows: Living Legacy, Velocity in Achievement, Spotlight on Ruby Veridiano and Love, Race & Liberation with JLove Calderon. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to make some bold decisions as you grow into the next level of your life purpose, too.
